Lauren Kapernaros
Purdue University, 2006-08
Co-advised with Nadja Wielebnowski and Jeffrey Lucas
Lauren conducted her senior honors thesis on individual variation in behavior and physiology of Canada lynx. She developed a comprehensive ethogram for this species and traveled to Illinois, Minnesota, and Alaska to conduct behavioral observations. She analyzed fecal glucocorticoid metabolites at Brookfield Zoo to assess levels of adrenal activity for each individual. Lauren received several awards for her research, including the Howard Hughes Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship and the Sandy and Zippy Ostroy Research Experience for Undergraduates Award.
